Prayer Request

Pray without ceasing - I Thessalonians 5:17

With all types of prayer and petition pray in every season in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints - Ephesians 6:18

Always remember that prayer is a means of communication and therefore in as much as we wolud like to praise and thank our God as well as put our request before Him we would also expect to hear from Him during and after our prayer.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Phil 4:6-7

Apart from the Lord's Prayer which Jesus Christ taught as instructing us to pray in this manner there are no ‘rules’ to follow about how we should pray. Taking into account the prayer's structure, flow of subject matter and emphases, we (Christians) interpret the Lord's prayer as a guideline on how to pray rather than something to be learned and repeated by rote.

Lord's Prayer
(The 1662 translation in Anglican Book of Common Prayer):

Our Father, which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy Name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done,
in earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive them that trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
But deliver us from evil:
[For thine is the kingdom, The power, and the glory,
For ever and ever.] Amen.

The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. - James 5:16b

Remember the prayer of Jabez - 1 Chron 4:10

"Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, 'Oh that Thou would bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast [territory], and that Thine hand might be with me, and that Thou would keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me!' And God granted him that which he requested."
